Post Commander's Message
Post Commander’s Message
Greetings Comrades and Sisters
We had a great July and I want to thank everyone for their support for all that the Post accomplished. We started the month off with a great 4th of July float in the parade with veterans from WWII to the present riding on the float. It was especially great to have our Adopt-A-Unit 4/3 Calvary, 1st Calvary Division Rear Detachment Commander CPT Eric Robles and family, First Sergeant George Bayer, CPT Joshua Bailey and SSG Daniel Kleiss on the ride with our comrades too. My hat is off to the decorating committee which made not only the float look great but the Post also. The decoration at the Post made the 4th of July Luncheon meal all the more delightful. We had a great turnout for the delicious meal and a great time was had by all.
Another event this past month was our first responder’s appreciation luncheon on the 22nd. This was an idea from our previous Commander Comrade John Pratt and his wife Mary. What a great idea and we want to thank everyone who came together so quickly and brought a dish to the Post luck luncheon. This was attend by so many which recognized and thanked all these fine people who everyday protect and serve us.
We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple and at Ft. Hood supporting Veterans. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.
We want to welcome our new member to the Post (Kimberly A Williamson) please introduce yourself to her and welcome her. I encourage you to come and participate in the many activities at the post this month there is something for everyone.
Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 9th of August at 19:00 hrs. Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at VFW Post 4008.
Yours in Comradeship
