Chaplain Corner - February 2018
February 1, 2018
From the Chaplain’s Pen………………………………………....………………… Dr. Al Lowe
Here we are in February. January sure was busy and I expect the same from February. Among other things, there is Ground Hog Day – probably one of the more useless designations for a day. One must be in Pennsylvania to experience anything associated with Ground Hogs Day. There is Valentine’s Day, another useless day especially if one gives candy to someone. There is President’s Day which is a combination of the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln and again is useless unless one serves in a Federal job and gets a long weekend. And there are several more personal days which are not useless, but often hard to remember.
One of the most important days in February is the local VFW Post meeting. Unfortunately, too many consider this day to be useless, but that person rarely – if ever – goes to the meeting. Last month, January, the Department of Texas presented some $30K to students for their Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen presentation. And the VOD and PP is totally a Post activity. If there are activities celebrating our Presidents, there is a great opportunity to engage other veterans and get them into the VFW. There is a lot to do and activities to engage in our VFW.
This has been a rough winter; cold, hot, wet, and dry. Keep in touch with other Comrades. Give a call or even a visit. And meet with them at the Post and District meeting.
Bible Verse Of The Month

wortheth righteousness, and
speaketh the truth in his heart."
