From the Chaplain’s Pen………………………………………....………………… Dr. Al Lowe

Welcome to 2017. I hesitate to say finally, but finally 2016 is in the past. We experienced one of the more disgusting Presidential elections in history. May be the 1828 election of Andrew Jackson was worse in that his wife suffered and died from a heart attack shortly after he won the election and before he took the oath of office. And for those who wanted Hillary, maybe next time; and for those wanting Trump, after January 20, he is at the wheel. But to see and hear so many people voice hate and contempt on one another makes me wonder how many of those professing to be Christians are actually believers?

And the escapades of the buying and giving are now long ahead of us, not simply recent memories.  There were record numbers of people trying to feed and give presents to so many.  “Black Friday” and “Digital Monday” were big financial successes’, which we now must pay!  But we must also remember, many continue living on the street, under bridges, in poorly heated shacks.  We are still responsible to our Veterans.

So here we are in 2017. Time to make those “resolutions” we probably will not keep. But this year, I think it is time, and deserves our efforts to make some serious resolutions which we have full intentions of keeping.  Consider these:

1.  Being a part of the VFW outreach to Veterans.

2.  Being active in the VFW community, especially in those measures having effect on  Veterans.

3.  Reaching out to the Veterans, taking care of one another.

And there are so many more opportunities available to us.

Thanks for all you do; and thanks again for all you will do.

I pray you have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Chaplain Al Lowe
