Post Commander's Message

Greetings Comrades and Sisters,

We had a great November starting with our Veterans Day events which I want to thank Colonel (P) McBride for delivering a great message. I also want to thank 4/3 Calvary for their Color Guard performance and all those who decorated and cooked. An outstanding event for which there was a great turnout to honor those who served and continue to serve.

We had many other events during the month to include our Post meeting and judging of the VOD and Patriots Pen.  I want to thank Chaplin Al Low for his continue work as our “Lead” guy on that action.  Other events were the Buddy Poppy event at Walmart where our Junior Vice Kerry Welch led our quarterly event. The weather chased us off early but we still did well and reminded all in our community about Veterans Day and how to support each other.  The last event of the month was our Thanksgiving Day Pot Luck which was a big hit so much so that I think we need to have our own VFW Cook Book. Thanks to all for a great month.

We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple and at Fort Hood supporting Veterans. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.

We want to welcome our new members to the Post please introduce yourself to them and welcome them. I encourage our new members to come and participate in the many activities at the Post this month, there is something for everyone.

Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 13th of December at 19:00 hrs. Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at VFW Post 4008.

Yours in Comradeship

Loy Dean Gardner II
