We are in the middle of the holidays; Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Pearl Harbor Remembrance, Beginning of Winter, and Kwanzaa. There are birthdays, anniversaries, trips to take, school to keep in mind. However, there is one specific event I take quite personally and that is Advent.

I am a Christian and there are several events I celebrate. Later I will write of other events. But right now, I draw our attention to Advent. Advent is an old – ancient – tradition dating into the middle ages. Many seem to consider Advent a Catholic thing, but it is not JUST a Catholic event. For all who wish to participate in the fullness of Advent, check it out on the web, get your wreath and candles, and enjoy the experience.

Advent is a weekly event, for the four-weeks leading up to the Birth of the Child on the 25th.

The first week of advent begins 25 November and it is the week of Prophecy.

The second week begins 6 December and it is the week of Bethlehem.

The third week begins the 13th and it is the week of the Shepherds.

The fourth week begins the 20th leading to the night of the 24th when the Christ Candle is lit.

Sounds like a lot of work – well for some it will be a lot of work. But the reward of the preparation for Christmas is beyond imagination. I encourage you to participate.

And in your celebrations during the month of December, I pray God’s blessings be upon you and all your family. “For unto you a child is born, Christ the Lord!”

Bible Verse Of The Month

Luke Chapter 2 Verses 11-14

“ 11. – Today in the town of Davis a Savior has been born to you;

he is the Messiah, the Lord.  12. – This will be a sign to you:

“You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a mange.” 13. – Suddenly

 a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel,

praising God and saying, 14. – “Glory to God in the highest heaven,

and on earth peace  to those on whom his favor rests.”
