VFW National Home for Children
The National Home's community is open to families of active-duty military personnel, veterans and – recognizing that the effects of war can last for generations - descendants of members of the VFW and it’s Auxiliary. The family can be one or both parents with one or more children.
War takes a terrible toll on American military and veteran families.
Emotional wounds, financial stress, fractured family relationships, hopelessness and more can often be the outcome for families with a parent serving our country – now, recently or from earlier generations.
Families may have a life changing experience when living in our community where they can:
* Find stability and security during a deployment
* Recover from a crisis
* Deal with life's challenges to get their feet under them
* Keep the family whole during vocational rehabilitation
* Find happiness that was taken away
* and more...

The First Sunday of Advent
As we prepare for Christmas, the Christian Church will experience the season of Advent. Advent is a word meaning “get ready,” or “be prepared.” November 27th was the first Sunday of Advent; the message being ‘HOPE.” Each week another candle is lit, reminding of us another meaningful word or event of the Christmas season. Thus each week, I will have another short devotional, with the second, third, and forth candle being lit. Finally on Christmas, all candles are lit to include the Christ candle.
Our HOPE is not necessarily a hope for a big gift under the Christmas tree on the morning of December 25th. This HOPE of the Advent is for the love of God to be expressed by His children, one to the other. This HOPE is found in the birth of the Child, the Son of God, our Savior.
As we prepare for and approach the experience of the HOPE of Christmas, it becomes my hope that we shall all be ready.
Bible Verse Of The Month
Psalm 50, Verse 15
"And call upon me in the day of
trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou
shalt glorify me."
