Post Commander's Message

Greetings Comrades and Sisters,

Happy New Year from myself and all the officers at the Post 4008. The year has started out as a cold one so please think of those who might need to be checked on to ensure of their safety.

The month of December was a busy one with many celebrations and events. We start with Pearl Harbor Day Ceremony with Texas House of Rep. Hugh Shine on the 7th with a Pot luck lunch. Then on the 9th we host the Post Awards for Employees, VOD and Patriots Pen Luncheon on the 9th, followed by the employee Christmas Party on the 16th. It’s wasn’t over until the UGLY Sweater contest and New Year’s Eve Party with a Pot Luck Dinner on the 31st.

We have a full month in January with the District 14 Meeting at our Post on the 20th and Mid-winter on the 25th -28th.  If you don’t have anything else going on please come out to our Bingo and Karaoke is still the hot thing on Friday nights. This month our meeting is at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th.

We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple, the USO on Fort Hood and supporting our Adopt-A-Unit 4/3 Calvary who has been a great partner. Our Next Buddy Poppy event is on the 16th at the VA in Temple from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.

We want to welcome our new members to the Post please introduce yourself to them and welcome them. I encourage our new members to come and participate in the many activities at the Post this month, there is something for everyone. Please get out there and recruit new members to help veterans all over.

Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 9th of January at 19:00 hrs. or earlier for the VPR at 18:50 hrs.  Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at VFW Post 4008.

Yours in Comradeship

Post Commander
