Post Commander's Message
Post Commander’s Message
Greetings Comrades and Sisters
As this starts my term as Commander I want to thank all for your trust in me and my officers for the great Henry T. Waskow. In keeping with the Waskow tradition I give you my pledge to do my best for the Post. I want to thank Rodger for his support and look forward to his and other previous commanders for their guidance and wisdom. I want to thank you all in advance for your support of this Post and the great year ahead of us all.
We had many events this past month to include our State Convention, Flag Day and Army Birthday cake cutting which our sponsor unit came to celebrate with us. It is always a great day when those who are currently serving take the time to share occasions with us.
This month we have the 4th of July Parade. Come out and decorate and ride on the float and don’t forget about the luncheon with hotdogs and hamburgers at the Post Home. Remember to come out and support our Bingo. Karaoke is still the hot thing on Friday nights and 1st and 3rd Saturday night of each month. On the 8th through the 10th we will have officer training in Austin and our Post meeting on Tuesday the 12th. Later in the month we will send our representatives to the National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live in so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.
We want to welcome our many new members to the Post (William Tiemann, Dale Whitesell, Kathrine Thompson, Andres Garza). Please welcome our new members and introduce yourself to them. I encourage you to come and participate in the many activities at the Post there is something for everyone.
Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 12th of July at 19:00hrs. Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at VFW Post 4008.
Yours in Comradeship
Loy Dean Gardner II
