Post Commander’s Message

Greetings Comrades and Sisters,

Happy Independence Day! We have had a busy June with the State Convention, Flag Day, Army Birthday and Father’s Day celebrations. I want to thank the officers and those who attended the State Convention. We learned much and now it is time to put it in to action.

We have many events this month with the 4th of July Parade, and BBQ Lunch at the Post Home after the parade, Officer Training July 11 -14, 2018 in Austin, National Convention in Kansas City July 21-25, 2018 at the end of the month. The Post meeting will be on the 10th this month and we will be hosting District 14 Officer Training at our Post on the 28th starting 10:00 a.m. Hope to see many of you there.

We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple, the USO on Fort Hood and supporting our Adopt-A-Unit 4/3 Calvary who has been a great partner. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.

We want to welcome our new members to the Post please introduce yourself to them and welcome them. I encourage our new members to come and participate in the many activities at the Post this month, there is something for everyone. Please get out there and recruit new members to help veterans all over.

I want to thank everyone for their support for the second year of my command. Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 10th of June at 7:00 p.m. Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at VFW Post 4008.

Yours in Comradeship,

Post Commander

Gary Leofsky
