Post Commander's Message

Greetings Comrades and Sisters,

Well, April is gone but we still have the weather that came with it. Stay dry and come to the high ground at the Post. It’s always dry inside and it’s yours to be a part of. In saying that, we have many events this month starting with our Post meeting on the 14th where we will be discussing many new actions and closing out the year. Elections went well and I want to thank everyone for their trust in me by electing me as your Commander for another year. Congratulations to our new officers and those returning to positions. Officers are as follows: Sr. Vice Commander Jim Gandy, Jr. Vice Commander Tommy Anderson,          Quartermaster Larry Youngblood, Chaplain Al Lowe, 3 (three) year trustee John Pratt. Again, congratulations to them and I look forward to another great year.

Thanks, Last month the District meeting was in Marble Falls on the 27th and we had a great showing. With State and National just around the corner I want to make sure we take care of each other and have a good end to the year.

We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple, the USO on Fort Hood and supporting our Adopt-A-Unit 4/3 Calvary who has been a great partner. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.

We want to welcome our new members to the Post please introduce yourself to them and welcome them.  I encourage our new members to come and participate in the many activities at the Post this month, there is something for everyone.

Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 14th of May at 19:00 hrs. Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at VFW Post 4008.

Yours in Comradeship,

Gary A. Leofsky
