Post Commander's Message

Greetings Comrades and Sisters,

Summer is just around the corner and elections for the Post are completed. Congratulation goes out to the new officers for 2017-2018 year. We still have a lot to accomplish this next month and many fun activities to attend.

We have a full calendar of Meetings, Holidays, Birthdays and Fun. We start with Loyalty Day on the 1st followed with our Wednesday’s breakfast’s at 10:00 hrs. The 9th will be our Post Meeting with two VPRs before the meeting at 18:50 hrs. That next weekend on the 13th is our Post Awards and Luncheon starting at 12:00 noon. Then on the 14th (Sunday) is Mother Day, so let take them out for lunch or dinner and to remember the ones that has gone on to be with their Heavenly Father. Let’s don’t forget on the 20th is our District 14 Picnic at VFW Post 3892 in Harker Heights. On the 29th we have one of our most important days where we honor our fallen Brothers and Sisters who have given all for our freedom. Memorial Day is a day for all to reflect and honor those who have given their lives for us to be free.

We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple and at Fort Hood supporting Veterans. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.

I would like to thank our Adopt-A-Unit 4th Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division for great time at their Military Ball in Georgetown on the 22th of April. We were honored to be there with this Squadron that had just completed 12 months’ tour in Afghanistan.

We want to welcome our new members to the Post please introduce yourself to them and welcome them. I encourage our new members to come and participate in the many activities at the Post this month, there is something for everyone. Please get out there and recruit new members and remember there is a special this month for new members. Always remember and support our Bingo on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday with Karaoke on Fridays.

Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 9th of May at 19:00 hrs. or earlier for the VPR at 18:50 hrs.  Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at

VFW Post 4008.

Yours in Comradeship,

Loy Dean Gardner II
