Post Commander's Message
Greetings Comrades and Sisters,
We had a great month in September. We started the month with Patriots Day events in and around Belton ending the evening with our Post Meeting. Next, we were well represented at the District Meeting on the 15th and later in the month on the 21st at the POW/ MIA recognition day on Fort Hood. Lastly we hosted a Buddy Poppy event at the VA on the 26th to highlight Suicide Awareness. I want to thank everyone for all the hard work and participation at this month’s activities.
We have many events this month starting with the annual Downs But Not Out Walk cooking starts on the 6th of October with the event the next day.
We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple, the USO on Fort Hood and supporting our Adopt-A-Unit 4/3 Calvary who has been a great partner. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live in so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.
We want to welcome our new members to the Post please introduce yourself to them and welcome them. I encourage our new members to come and participate in the many activities at the Post this month, there is something for everyone. Please get out there and recruit new members to help veterans all over.
I want to thank everyone for their support for the second year of my command. Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 9th of October at 19:00 hrs. Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at VFW Post 4008.
Yours in Comradeship
