Post Commander's Message

Greetings Comrades,

Another great month has gone by and as we start into fall. We had a great month hosting the District 14 Organization Day on the 19th and of course our regular activities of Karaoke and Bingo.

This month we have our meeting at 7:00 p.m. and 3 VPRs at 6:50 p.m. There is also the District 14 meeting in Harker Heights at Post 3892 on the 23rd and State Commander Homecoming on the 28th thru 30th in San Antonio at the end of the month. On the 29th & 30th we start preparing for one of the biggest events of our year. Cooking for the Down’s But Not Out “Buddy Walk” that on October 1, 2017. It will takes many hands to make this event happen so please volunteer.

We continue to be a great part of this community and in supporting of others to include the many volunteer hours that some of you put in at the VA in Temple, the USO on Fort Hood and supporting our Adopt-A-Unit 4/3 Calvary who has been a great partner.  On the 30th 4/3 CAV will have a family day on Fort Hood and you are welcome to attend the event. Being part of the VFW means supporting the community we live in so that others will see by our example and someday serve in the military as we have.

We want to welcome our new members to the Post please introduce yourself to them and welcome them. I encourage our new members to come and participate in the many activities at the Post this month, there is something for everyone. Please get out there and recruit new members to help veterans all over. Always remember and support our Bingo on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday and our ever popular Karaoke on Fridays.

Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on the 12th of September at 7:00 p.m. or earlier for the VPRs at 6:50 p.m. Thank you all again for your hard work and assistance in all we do here at VFW Post 4008.
