The Relationship Between Scouting and the VFW Dates Back over 100 Years!

During World War I and II Boy Scouts played a major part in helping collect food and other items to support the troops in the war. Since that time scouting has continued to be a supporter of the VFW and scouts have grown up, joined the military, fought in wars and subsequently become members of the VFW.

The BSA has and continues to provide a first-class youth development and education program for use by qualified organizations. The VFW is an ideal organization to incorporate the BSA program into our planning for youth in our local communities. Direct involvement in the Scouting program presents VFW Post 4008 with the opportunity to positively affect the lives of the youth in our community while developing positive youth/adult partnerships.

Through scouting, VFW Post 4008 has and utilizes the opportunity to expand their community outreach while developing a clear resource for veteran’s families and their children.

Henry T. Waskow Post 4008 is proud to announce that we have established a scholarship in honor of our Post.

Post 4008 works with the Belton New Tech High School for the Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation (BEEF).

To date we have donated $50,000.

POST 4008

Post 4008 Supports the following local Scouting:

BSA Troop 177 and Troop 177 for Girls

  • Open to Youth ages 11 - 17

  • Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting experience for youth in the fifth grade through high school. Service, community engagement and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.

BSA Cub Scout Pack 177

  • Open to Youth in 1st - 5th Grade

  • Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family.  In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It’s fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today – and for life.
